Troubleshooting
No Prime
Irregular Stroke/Pulsating Spray- Recognized by pump traveling slowly in one stroke and quickly in another. This is usually caused by debris in either ball. Your pump is cavitating if it pumps fine in up stroke, and quickly in only half of the down stroke. Either the suction kit is clogged, or the material is too thick.
The most common cause is a stuck lower ball.
Gently rap on the fluid section while running, or take out lower ball and clean. Check origin of debris. Often, this is caused by chips from the inside of an old suction kit. A clogged inlet strainer can also cause this.
Low Or No Pressure- This can be caused by many things.
Use this list as a guide:
→ Check prime, if not solid stream; check inlet screen or pump.
→ Hose length and diameter. Too much skinny hose for heavy material. Sprays good for a second then trails off.
→ Temperature of material is too cold and thicker than normal. Sprays good for a second then trails off.
→ Tip size worn past capacity of pump. Sprays good for a second then trails off.Pump Leaks Or Doesn’t Stop Stroking- This can be caused by loose packings. Try to tighten. Worn or scored rod, cylinder or leaking cylinder seal can be the problem. Disassemble and inspect.
